I got sunburned painting this scene from a boardwalk over a small pond in a park in the middle of the city. Behind me Canadian geese came and went in a cacophony wingbeats, honks and splashdowns as bumble bees buzzed around me and the meadow. I wasn't worried about the bees. Last year, people at the Grange Audubon Center at the park were showing off a pet bumble bee that people could pet. They wanted to get the message out that bumblebees are docile and unlikely to sting. Lots of park goers stopped by to say hello and watch me paint.
