Colors, shapes, and patterns reinvent a single stretch of Deer Creek along State Route 207 in rural Ohio. I couldn't believe what I was seeing...piles of powdery snow forming a Minecraft-esque geometric pattern atop the ice. Stopping to take it all in on the two-lane, high-speed road in wintry conditions was out of the question, but I was sorely tempted. Instead, I returned the next day and scouted around the state park in icy, windy, sunny, sub-zero weather. After I was through gathering inspiration, I found a drawstring in my coat that could have kept my hood up and prevented my hair from blinding me the whole time.
